About our Farm
Five Seeds Farm is a family-operated fruit & vegetable farm located on two sites in northern Baltimore county and Baltimore city. We have a small apiary & fruit orchard. All of our fruits & vegetables are grown using organic methods.
Where we grow
Our urban farm is located at 3500 Kenyon Ave. in the Belair-Edison neighborhood and our Baltimore County site is located in Sparks, MD.
Farmer
Five Seeds’ founder Denzel Mitchell began to cultivate his first plot through Baltimore city’s Adopt-A-Lot program and the farm has grown from there. From a handful of sites in Baltimore City beginning in 2008 to the 2011 acquisition of a 4.5-acre farm in Baltimore County, Denzel has created a path in sustainable food production. From chef & teacher to librarian, Denzel’s varied life experiences have given him the necessary skills to succeed at farming. He, his wife Tiombe, and their five children work diligently to cultivate rare heritage varieties and strive to honor the legacy of local food history, black farming, and urban homesteading.
